MONTNEY, RICHARD HUGH (b. 10 MAR 1927, d. 6 APR 2008)
Note: Note: Was not raised by Grace and Arthur. They were extremely poor and
could not afford to raise him. Richard and Virginia were raised by
neighbors who they dearly loved. Their names were Pauline and George
Warga from Bulgaria. ( Emmigrated here in the early 20's) They took
care of Ginny and Richard for many years. We are not sure why they had to
stay there except that perhaps it was a more stable environment. Pauline
was called "Mama Warga."
Note: Grace and Arthur both went to work where they could find it as
times were quite hard and jobs were not plentiful. They moved quite
frequently from job to job trying to make ends meet. They must have
helped the Warga's out in some way, financially. We'll never know, now.
Note: Attended Redford High School in Detroit Michigan where he graduated
in June 1945.
Note: Graduated from Florida State University
Note: Was a Lt. in the Korean war
Note: Married Jean Sagin August 8, 1953. They recently celebrated their
50th Wedding Anniversary.
Note: Worked for IBM as Southeast Division Manager. Retired after 35
years from IBM and then went to work for Kodak as a Sales Representative
for their Copy Products Division. Kodak had bought out the copier
business at IBM and Richard was selling IBM and Kodak copiers.
Note: Supported many charitable organizations by serving on the Board or
donating time with Hospice, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Boy's and Girl's
Scouts, Hope Haven and the Children's Home Society, Baptist Hospital and
the Jacksonville Port Authority to name a few.
Note: He was a scratch golfer and usually shot in the 60's. Today he
still shoots a very respectable golf game and most people would kill for
his score.
